Thanksgiving 2012

Good Morning my Coffee Friends.  Even though I have not written to you in some time I often think of you especially over Holidays such as Thanksgiving.  I hope you all had an extra special Thanksgiving with family, friends, laughter, warm full homes, and way to much food!!  We are actually cooking for family and friends on Sunday night.  We had Thanksgiving at one of my nephew's homes yesterday.  We are blessed with a wonderful family who can also cook.

Yesterday when we got home it was so warm, around 50 degrees, that I was inspired to string our Christmas lights around the deck rail while it was so nice outside.  I pretested them and then spent approx. two hours putting the lights up plugged them in and yes, really just like you are thinking one of the strands did not work and the timer would not light up correctly and kept going off and on.  So today I am going to fight the Black Friday Mobs to get some more lights and a new timer.  I had planned on not stepping a foot in a store today but I do want to finish out the light project before the cold weather comes in tonight.

We have been blessed with some beautiful weather the past few days - spoiled with some beautiful weather.  Sigmund and I have been going for a long walk every morning up on the mountain top.  What a privilege to have such a beautiful spot in the world.  We thank God every day for getting to enjoy this little spot of paradise.

This morning the wind is starting to blow.  The eastern sky is beginning to show red as daylight is approaching.   The high today will be in the 50s but tomorrow will only be in the low 30's.  Tomorrow will be a good day to stay in and get the house ready for Sunday's Thanksgiving meal.

Last summer one of my friends recommended a book to me that some of you might enjoy reading.  It is The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews.  While unconscious from a wreck a guy named David travels around and meets various Famous people and they share life changing decisions that help determine personal success.

For example:

Anne Frank - "Today I will choose to be happy" .  What a great choice - we have so much to be happy about even when we have difficulties along life's road.  Our happiness can help uplift those around us that are having a bad day.

Abraham Lincoln - "I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit" - Now that is a mouthful and a mindful.  I am sure you all are familiar with many of his country lawyer philosophies one of which is, "A house divided against itself cannot stand".  Today we need to have a forgiving spirit so our great Country can be whole again.

King Solomon - "I will seek wisdom" - Wisdom, I would love to have more!

President Truman - "The buck stops here"  - Dropping the bomb was quiet a decision that changed the world for all time.

Colonel Chamberlain - "I am a person of action"

You might enjoy reading this book when you have some spare time.

It is daylight now, Sigmund wants to help me type, so I will tell all my coffee buddies goodbye for now.  Have a wonderful day.
